Sigh!

I scored this 92% cashmere yarn for a song on craigslist.org! I bought 7 skeins for the price of one! Look how far I got on my gorgeous clapotis from knitty.com before I ran out of yarn. Do I pay $40 for another skein that may not match? I think I will frog it and make it narrower so I can keep the gorgeous length. I am sooooo frustrated! On the other hand, it really is a joy to knit with this yarn :)..

Woolen Mill

Yesterday we visited a farm that has an old woolen mill. The farm is Hidden Valley and it is located in Valders, WI. One of the owners said they had 355 new lambs this year! Here are a few of them. These are Coopsworth sheep. They are raised both for quality fiber and meat. One small barn holds the woolen mill, where quilt batts are made and restored and raw fiber is washed and carded. The upstairs is filled with beautiful roving and yarn. All of this and the meat can be purchased right on site.

Alpaca Fest!

Last week my hubby, Friar Chuck, and I went to a small festival at an alpaca farm in Two Rivers, Wisconsin. What fun! The highlight of the day was being able to meet a 2 day old cria (baby alpaca).
